On April 11, 2016, Ken Steele’s wife Karen dropped him off at his Walmart job earlier than usual because he knew that there was a lot of work to be done that day. “He was dedicated. The man did whatever he could to help his job out,” says Steele’s pastor, Joe Gutierrez of The Church on Fire where the Steele family attended Sunday services over the past fifteen years.

That morning, as he helped to unload a semi truck, an accident occurred that cost Ken Steele his life.

On Thursday, IWJ-affiliate Indianapolis Worker Justice Center and UFCW will organize a candlelight vigil in honor of Ken Steele and all workers who have been injured or lost their life on the job.

WJC will submit Mr. Steel’s name to be included in the IN AFL-CIO’s Workers’ Memorial Day memorial honoring Hoosier workers killed on the job at 11 am on April 28th at the Indiana Statehouse.

Add your prayers Here to be shared during Thursday’s vigil and sent to the Steele family in memory of Ken.
