MEETING NOTICE

Brothers and Sisters,
Instead of holding our regularly scheduled meeting next Monday, I am encouraging all officers and delegates to attend the following event at the Central Library in downtown Indianapolis:  What is ALEC: A Panel on the American Legislative Exchange Council and How It Affects our Country. This event is on Monday, July 11th from 6pm-8pm in the Riley room, 40 E St Clair St, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Panelists include Jane Carter from AFSCME International; Jay Riestenberg of Common Cause; Representative Matt Pierce (District 61); Jesse Kharbanda of the Hoosier Environmental Council; and Joel Hand of the Indiana Coalition for Public Education. It is highly likely that John Nichols, a frequent commentator on MSNBC will be on the panel as well.
As you may know, the CILC is working with dozens of state and national organizations to put on a big protest against this Koch brother funded organization when they arrive in Indianapolis on Wednesday July 27, 2016. The purpose of this panel is to educate our members and the general public about ALEC’s assault on Hoosiers’ labor rights, privatizing public schools, harming the environment and making it more difficult for citizens to vote.
If you have any questions, please email Emma em.e.fletch@gmail.com or Brooks bkirchgassner@cinlc.org or call the office at 317-638-3455.
In Solidarity,
Shawn Christ
President, Central Indiana Labor Council
